服務(wù)講求的就是態(tài)度和禮貌

　　1. Do you like to go out eating?

　　想不想出去吃呢?

　　有次我問老美出去吃東西怎么說, 他回答說一般出去吃飯, 他們只說 go to eat , go out eating 或是 eat out 而不會(huì)說 go to dinner, go for lunch, 也就是不需特地說中餐或是晚餐. 所以后來老美問我剛?cè)ツ牧? 我應(yīng)該要說 I just went out eating, 而不會(huì)說 I just went to dinner. 小細(xì)節(jié)多注意, 你的英文會(huì)更棒.

　　如果要強(qiáng)調(diào)是去吃午餐或晚餐的話, 一般就直接說 lunch 或是 dinner. 例如人家問你, "Where did you go?" 你就可以答說 "lunch."

　　2. There is a Deli over there, do you like it?

　　那里有一家 Deli (餐廳), 你喜不喜歡呢?

　　美國(guó)的餐廳可分很多種, Restaurant 是一般的通稱, 另外常用到的有 Deli : 供應(yīng)三明治, 沙拉這種現(xiàn)成的, 不需再經(jīng)過烹調(diào)的餐廳, 例如 SUBWAY 就可以算是 Deli. 另外還有 Grill 也隨處可見, 翻譯成烤肉餐廳, 多半是提供牛排, 漢堡熱食類的食物.

　　Deli 這個(gè)字是 delicatessen 的簡(jiǎn)寫, 可是現(xiàn)今在美國(guó)一般只會(huì)聽到 deli 而很少聽到 delicatessen 了!

　　3. What do you like to drink?

　　想要喝什么?

　　美國(guó)餐廳的習(xí)慣, 吃飯時(shí)都會(huì)點(diǎn)一大杯飲料, 所以侍者一定會(huì)先問你 What do you like to drink. 也有人會(huì)這么說, Can I get you something to drink?. 一般餐廳都會(huì)提供的有 Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Iced Tea, 以及 Lemonade 等. 如果什么都不要, 就說 Just water.

　　值得注意的是, 在一般的速食店提到 drink 都是指 soft drink 而言. 但是一般人說到 have a drink 時(shí), 他們多半指的是 alcoholic, 也就是含酒精的飲料. 所以如果有人問你, "Come on, have a drink with us." 他絕不是要你跟他們一起喝可樂的意思, 而是要你跟他們一起喝酒啦!

　　4. Are you ready to order or just a minute?

　　你們準(zhǔn)備好了嗎? 還是要再等一會(huì)?

　　通常飲料上桌之后, 大伙都還要花點(diǎn)時(shí)間研究一下菜單, 如果侍者看你們大概都差不多了, 他就會(huì)過來問你們, Are you ready to order or just a minute? 如果是已經(jīng)準(zhǔn)備好要點(diǎn)餐了, 就直接跟她說你想吃什么, 如果大家還要再研究研究, 則可以跟侍者說 Just a minute. 或是 Wait a few more minutes. 請(qǐng)他等一下, 他會(huì)說 OK. I*ll be back. (好, 那我等下再來.)

　　5. Do you want to separate check?

　　你們要不要分開付帳?

　　比如說二對(duì)夫妻出去吃飯, 大家想各自付自己的, 則你們可以主動(dòng)跟侍者說 We want to separate check. 有時(shí)他們也會(huì)主動(dòng)問你, Do you want to separate check? 或是 Do you want separate checks? 這樣的話帳單就會(huì)有二張. 但有些餐廳 separate check 會(huì)多收服務(wù)費(fèi), 最好先問清楚. 如果是要一起付, 則簡(jiǎn)單地說, together 或是 one check 就可以了.

　　6. How do you like your steak cooked?

　　你的牛排要幾分熟?

　　通常點(diǎn)牛排, 或是在高級(jí)一點(diǎn)的餐廳點(diǎn)牛肉漢堡, 服務(wù)生都會(huì)這樣問你, How do you like it cooked? 回答的方式, 全熟是 well done, 七分熟: medium well, 五分熟: medium, 四分熟: medium rare, 三分熟: rare. 老美有時(shí)在開玩笑時(shí)也用 bloody 來代替 rare 這個(gè)字, 聽來是不是更傳神? 所以如果各位嗜食生牛肉的話, 下次不妨試試 bloody as hell 的點(diǎn)法. 但請(qǐng)注意一下 bloody 這個(gè)字在英國(guó)英語中有點(diǎn)類似 fxxx 的意思, 所以除非有把握不然不要拿出來亂用.

　　記得有一次我去一家蠻高級(jí)的法國(guó)餐廳用餐, 結(jié)果我跟他要 well-done 的牛排, 結(jié)果煮出來的東西跟橡皮一樣難吃. 后來老美跟我解釋, 你摸摸自己頭上的各部位就知道你的牛排等一下煮出來是什么樣子, well-done 就是頭頂, 硬梆梆的, medium well 就是額頭, 稍微有點(diǎn)彈性. medium 是鼻頭, 軟軟的. rare 是下巴最柔軟的部份. 我覺得這個(gè)分法蠻實(shí)用的, 跟各位分享一下.
